Some inspirations collected at the Milan Fairground
23/4/2012 | Polo fieristico, Milano. Every year the Salone del Mobile in Milan is
synonym of quality and innovation. There were a lot of companies participating in the event; at the
pavilions 16 and 20 there also were the most famous names who drew attention on themselves thanks to
the attractive stands and the products signed by the best international designers.
Walking on the Fairground, we saw a strong trend towards
evocative basketworks and both
full and empty shapes which give charm to the objects. There were important designers
who followed this design trend, such as
Patricia Urquiola
for Moroso and
Fabio Novembre for Driade: they created
innovation by (also) exploiting intertwining, smooth curves and organic shapes.
A common
approach followed by many companies is to create
new spaces with
pieces of furniture. There were a lot of products designed to create or edit spaces as
desired, such as the modules Pluscollection, born thanks to a collaboration between the company and
the studio
JoeVelluto from Vicenza; or the modular shelves
by the well-known company MDF.
Some interesting innovations concerned new approaches in the
materials, by using sometimes new materials
completely unrelated
with the concept of furniture, such as the seats entirely made with elastic by Lago or the
furniture coated with a layer of 1-millimeter-high cement.
Also the company Henrytimi used stone
in order to create kitchens with marble counter, while Budri made a whole range of decorations with
high quality marble.
So, like every year, the Salone
del Mobile in Milan helps to imagine the future trends and it’s a
source of inspiration for all people interested in the Design world.
