Saloni 2012 |  Fabio Verdelli's horoscope

An interview with the designer during his exhibition

27/4/2012 | Milano.  “Figli delle stelle”: the collection of unique pieces designed by Fabio Verdelli is at Via Manin 15/A in Milan. We got there and talk a little about design and craftsmanship!

The designer’s exhibition is the result of the inspirations he had over last 7 years, which gave rise to unique in their kind furnishing accessories.

I realized that I could touch all the 12 constellations of the zodiac with some of the unique pieces I’ve designed in recent years, so I thought to do this exhibition.

It’s a simple story, but full of meaning.
We came into the exhibition space and felt enveloped in a quiet and relaxing atmosphere, almost intimate. Seated on “Iceberg”, the creator of these products greeted us. The 12 products were the real soul of the hall and we immediately found the stark differences between them: it really seems that they were designed in completely differing times and situations.

The armchair “Apulean”, born under the sign of the Lion, had a great majesty softened by gentle lines: it’s the perfect mix between strength and elegance.
The lamp “Nefertiti”, related to Sagittarius, is very minimal and delicate. It was made of a single sheet of metal bent by master craftsmen, as also “Unpezzo”, the second lamp of the collection, was. Close behind it’s “Hypnotiste”, a table made entirely of wood and placed in the center of the exhibit.

The 12 works retain a particular taste and are united by a close attention to their developing.
Before leaving the show we asked Fabio what is the piece that he prefer.

Ceramic “Portapetali”, of course: it’s a romantic object that conveys purity and simplicity. The best moment in the life of a rose is the period when it ripens and then withers.

His words instilled to an apparently simple product a particular poetic spirit.
The true beauty of an object is very often hidden begin a thin line which covers a very deep meaning.
