Becoming customers of Scuola Italiana Design
The Master in Creative Design of Scuola Italiana
Design consists in approximately 25 students who have already finished two years of specific
training (concept, product, visual, packaging, web).
The Master’s program is organized as if it
were a professional studio in which the students, assisted by teachers, develop projects on themes
directly assigned by client companies.
businesses participate in the Master by assigning design themes
- The possibility to gain access to “unconditioned creativity”
students face these
assigned themes without the conditioning created by months or years of specific design experience.
In this way, the cultural approach to the project is much more free and often creates ideas and
products which are particularly innovative.
- Access to an
elevated number of “creative ideas”
with the coordination of teachers, all 25 students
develop and present on average at least two creative ideas on the assigned theme.
- The reading of the theme from a “youthful angle”
due to the
cultural context in which they are being formed (computerization, globalization, contamination of
diverse cultures) creative young men and women have a different lifestyle from that of adult
designers. This lifestyle often involves situations, behaviors and experiences that necessitate new
products which were not demanded in previous generations; the vision of young designers is important
insomuch as it projects out from the cultural foundation of the new generations and these new
generations are the primary consumer targets of today.
possibility to select young designers
should they require it, contact with a significant
number of young designers allows companies to select new professional figures with greater attention
that they can insert into their own organizations or with whom they can create collaborative
relationships in outsourcing.
- A moderate responsibility in
terms of time dedicated to the project
The Master’s program develops its projects at the
Institute, not at the company; the companies time involvement is limited to three encounters:
Assignment of the theme, verification and selection of the first ideas of the project, final
presentation and delivery of definitive results.
3. SID design planning

- Development phase of initial ideas (5-week
Master’s students develop the initial project ideas (concept design) through the
application of the creative method. This phase is conducted at the Institute with the direction and
coordination of teachers.
- Verification of initial ideas
Each student presents the initial ideas to the manager of the company (manual
sketches with notes and comments); from the presented results the manager chooses those ideas to be
continued for in-depth planning and design.
planning phase (5-week duration)
The teacher assigns the selected themes to the students
and, if necessary, creates new work groups to develop the in-depth planning and design at the
Institute. This ultimately leads to the definitive results (rendering and preliminary technical
drawings) with paper and computer supports.
The definitive results are presented and turned in to the manager
of the company.
The creative group consists of 1 teacher and 25 Master’s

all definitive projects selected by the client company”.
